Björkliden has been totally refurbished from top to bottom and recently redecorated inside and out. It has double-glazing and is very well insulated to fit in with Swedish winters. The floors consist of the original wooden floorboards which have been sanded since the photographs were taken.
The house has been rewired and fitted with electric radiators throughout in order to use up the allowance of 5425 kWh of FREE ELECTRICITY per year in perpetuity! It has also got two wood burning stoves and one fireplace.




A large veranda leads into this unusually spacious hall with room for skis, boots, fishing rods etc. A door leads down to a small cellar and there is a large broom cupboard and cupboard under the stairs. A wide set of stairs lead to the first floor.

This is a large room with spectacular views of the lake and the islands. A large, ornate wood-burning stove from the nineteenth century has been restored and now sits in the corner. A beautifully decorated door, dating 1826, belonging to an older building on the farm now makes a fine centrepiece. Modern French windows lead on to a large veranda from which you have fine views of the bird life on the lake and the meadows.








This is a large landing with a door leading on to the balcony, which overlooks the forest and the farm buildings at the back of the house. This catches the early morning sun. A steep set of stairs leads on to a very spacious loft from the corner of the landing. A fireplace is tucked into the corner next to the double doors leading into the sitting room.
With panoramic windows this room has the best views of the lake and the islands in the house and is sunny all day. It leads into three of the four bedrooms.

The bunkroom, originally built as a dressing room for bedroom 1 but quite big enough as a single bedroom.
With the chimney from the wood burning stove below tucked into the corner in this bedroom you rarely need to use the electric radiator. The dressing room is a useful storage room.
The dressing room (1 x 3.9 m) leading off this bedroom could be used as a cosy small child's bedroom. Although facing south the early morning sun hits this window first in summer making it the best bedroom for waking up early!
